Overview
Managing incoming tickets efficiently is crucial for maintaining productivity. FogBugz uses an Autosort engine to automatically forward tickets from the Inbox into specific project folders, allowing for better organization and streamlined case management.
This article outlines the steps to set up Autosort rules to achieve this.
Solution
To auto-forward tickets from the Inbox into a project folder in FogBugz, you can use the Autosort feature or configure Manual Sorting rules. The Autosort engine after training will filter and forward qualifying emails to the desired projects, while the manual sorting will forward all emails to the configured project. Below are the steps for each method:
Using Autosort
-
Enable Autosort:
- Navigate to the mailbox settings in FogBugz.
- Ensure that the Autosort feature is enabled. Autosort uses historical data to determine where incoming emails should be sorted.
- Navigate to the mailbox settings in FogBugz.
-
Train Autosort:
- Move at least 15 emails from the "Undecided" area to the desired project and area. This helps Autosort learn where similar future emails should be placed.
- Consistently move emails to the correct project and area to improve Autosort's accuracy.
-
Configure Autosort Areas:
- Limit the number of Autosort areas to five or six per project to optimize performance.
- Create specific areas within the project to categorize emails appropriately.
Manual Sorting
-
Create a Separate Project:
- Create a new project in FogBugz where you want the tickets to be forwarded.
- Go to Settings > Projects > Create New Project.
-
Configure the Mailbox:
- Go to Settings > Mailboxes.
- Select the mailbox you want to configure.
- Change the sorting configuration to "Manual Sorting".
- Set the default area to the desired project and area.
