Number String Auto-Links to Kiln Repository Revisions

Follow

Overview

If a user enters a long string of hexadecimal digits on a case as shown in the below image (>12 characters):

our system considers those data as a Kiln repository revision commit, so it auto-links the number string to Kiln repository reviews:

This behavior is not always necessary, especially if the user is not using Kiln.

Root Cause

The system's default behavior is to link those kinds of data to the Kiln repository if both FogBugz and Kiln are enabled in their account.

Resolution

This is the system's default behavior. If you are NOT using Kiln but the user has the Kiln account activated in their profile, this account must be disabled.

Note: Configuring the settings mentioned below requires administrator access.

Steps

  1. Go to the Avatar menu > Manuscript > Users.

  2. In the Manage Users page, uncheck Kiln for the affected user.

Confirmation

View the case again. The number string is no longer linked.
