What is FogBugz On-Premise?

FogBugz On-Premise is the name of the new and latest, self-hosted version of FogBugz.

Is there a self-hosted version of FogBugz with all the latest features?

Yes. This is known as FogBugz On-Premise.

What if I have an existing FYS license and maintenance contract?

If you have an existing FBFYS site license or individual licenses with a current maintenance contract, then we apply your outstanding payment towards the new On-Premise license. Please send us your existing maintenance order ID/email, and we can give you a quote.

Does FBOP support custom plugins?

No. Just like the current cloud-hosted version of FogBugz On-Demand, it does not allow custom plugins. Instead, we have incorporated the most popular plugins from FYS into On-Premise. Please check the list of FogBugz On-Demand/On-Premise plugins.

Does FBOP support Kiln?

No. FogBugz On-Premise does not integrate with the existing Kiln products.

Why is FBOP a separate product from FBFYS?

FBFYS was created some time ago, and it works like a traditional piece of software with a database that powers a website.

To deliver the speed and functionality requirements of a modern, single-page web app, we could not just upgrade what we had. We had to create an entirely new product that leverages advanced development techniques.

Q 8.

Will FBOP get automatic updates like FogBugz On-Demand?

No. Given that On-Premise runs on your servers, updates are not automatically applied.

New releases are carried out often to keep up with the latest fixes and improvements and can be implemented using our self-installer at the time that is most convenient for you.

Q 9.

Is maintenance included for On-Premise?

Yes, maintenance is included and covers the initial installation. It also includes on-going upgrades and unlimited phone and email support.

Q 10.

Does On-Premise work on air-gapped servers?

Yes, however, the server requires access to the internet for the initial installation and some updates. We also need a remote connection using standard remote desktop connection software for the initial setup and during any upgrades.

Q 11.

What is the migration path for FBFYS to FBOP?

We recommend a fresh install for FBOP and import the old database into the new installation. Details can be found in the knowledge article: Upgrading FogBugz FYS to FogBugz On-Premise.

Can I evaluate FBOP before purchasing it?

Yes. You can begin a free trial of our On-Demand product to understand the functionality provided by On-Premise. If you are an existing customer and you would like a 14-days license to demo the product (mainly to understand the migration process) or have any other requirements, then kindly get in touch with us for further assistance.

Does FogBugz On-Premise support external user authentication?

Yes. On-Premise supports external user authentication via SAML. This covers any SSO Identity Provider using SAML 2.0 and also Google OAuth. However, we have stopped supporting AD/LDAP.

If you plan to migrate from FBFYS to On-Premise, and your previous system used AD/LDAP authentication, please note that all users should use the Forgot Password link to create a password at first login.

How is FogBugz On-Premise licensed?

FogBugz On-Premise is licensed under a subscription model. Seats are purchased for a one-year period, which includes full support and access to all updates via regular upgrades.

Yes. Please get in touch with us, and we can discuss your needs.

Does the license include access to the source code?

No. Licenses cover the software use only. Modifications and redistributions are not permitted.
